Inter Governmental Relation in the Dairy Sector
Intergovernmental relations play a crucial role in the dairy sector within the Eastern and Central Africa region by facilitating cooperation and coordination among different levels of government to address issues such as reducing non-tariff trade barriers (NTBs) by harmonizing safety and quality standards, reducing inefficiencies in cross-border transactions, and enhancing food security and resilience. This collaboration can improve the welfare impact by facilitating the quick and free movement of safe, quality food throughout the region, ultimately benefiting the countries involved, and improving the welfare impacts of policy initiatives. This collaboration helps in achieving integrated, coordinated planning, effective provision of services, and monitoring the implementation of policies and legislation to enhance the dairy sector’s performance in the region.
